They did homework at aftercare — do I still sit?

Aftercare finishing a packet is not the return. If they can still begin from today’s picture, a smaller sit. If they are spent, skip. Do not add a second program to make it count at home. A completed sheet in a backpack is not the same as a short sit with the model they actually met.

A finished packet is not the picture

Aftercare is often a room with a list: get the homework done so the evening is free. That can be kind. It is also a different job from a return. The page may be filled. The picture may never have been named. They guessed, copied a neighbor, or hurried so they could play.

Home does not have to repeat the packet to prove you were there. Home can ask a quieter question: can they start one ordinary item from today’s model without the aftercare noise? If yes, sit small. If no, the packet did not keep the picture, and more items tonight will not put it back.

If they can still begin

Open the same book, or the same page language they used at school — not a new worksheet. One or two items. Stop while it is still clear. You are not grading aftercare. You are seeing whether the model holds.

Do not erase their packet and make them redo it as a test. That turns the table into a second period they already sat. A small return is enough.

If they are spent

Skip. They already did a sitting, even if it was the wrong shape. Adding yours because you want math to “happen in this house” is a second program with a moral attached. The book will be there tomorrow, still small.

Do not invent a fun app so home still “counts.” Occupying the hour with another setup is how two pictures sit on the same evening.

If a fact is all that moved

Sometimes aftercare drilled facts to fill the sheet. The packet looks done. The picture is still thin.

Flash Cards are free for a later hold at a calm table: one fact, no timer, then back to the lesson. They are not a way to make aftercare count, and they are not a second program. Use them when they can sit, not as a quiz the minute they walk in.

If they are spent, leave the cards shut.

You will know home was a return when they began from today’s picture and you stopped while it was still clear. You will know it failed when you have redone the packet, or opened another program so the evening would count.

Aftercare can finish a sheet. You keep the sitting small, or you skip. Same book. That is the whole answer.
