Math Facts — fluency with real strategies
Fluency matters — but fluency built only on speed and shame is brittle. Flashcards are free for every family: unhurried flips at your own pace, with an optional Strategy Mode that surfaces the same mental moves many Singapore Math classrooms teach: making 10, doubles, near-doubles, compensation, and fact families. Founding Scholars also unlock gentle timed drills and the rest of the Arena.
How it works
- Open flashcards free — self-paced flips, no account required.
- Practice pure fluency when you want clean recall.
- Turn on Strategy Mode to see a quiet hint paired with each fact — a suggested mental path, not a scolding.
- Founding Scholars can also choose a gentle timed drill by operation and level.
The mathematical idea
Strategy-based fluency treats facts as connected. If you know 8 + 2 = 10, then 8 + 5 can become 10 + 3. Doubles and near-doubles, compensation (6 + 8 as 6 + 10 − 2), and fact families link addition and subtraction. The child builds a web of relationships instead of 200 isolated cards.
Why it helps
Parents tired of apps that only race the clock can offer practice aligned with classical patience and Singapore strategy teaching. Strategy Mode is optional — some days call for quiet recall; other days call for thinking out loud about how an answer is found.
Age & skill range. About grades 1–5 for core addition and subtraction facts; extend with multiplication and division as the child is ready. Strategy Mode helps most once basic counting-on is in place.
