Yes if it is a short return to today’s picture, not a second lesson. A few items on the same page, then stop while it is still clear. Skip if they are spent. Do not add a second program because school already did math. The sitting is to keep the picture from going cold, not to repeat the school day.

A return is not a second lesson

School math used the minutes. Home does not have to use them again in the same shape. What fades overnight is not the memory of being in class. It is the model on the page — the bar, the tens and ones, the small group they actually saw.

A short sit puts that model back in their hands while it is still named. Two or three ordinary items in the same language. Then the table is clear. That is not homework as a second period. It is a return.

If you reteach the chapter, or finish a packet school did not get to, you have started a second lesson. Stop before that.

When to sit

If they can still begin from today’s picture, sit. The window is small on purpose. You are not proving that home “does math too.” You are keeping one picture warm.

Stay with the book they already used at school, or the spine you already chose for home. Place into it. Do not shop because the school page felt thin.

When to skip

If they are spent — melting, done, already in the next part of the day — skip. A sitting that becomes a fight does not keep the picture. It trains them to dread the table.

Skipping one evening after a full school math day is not a hole in the year. Inventing a longer sit tomorrow to make up for it is.

Not a second program

“They already had math” is how a new app arrives: something lighter, something more fun, something that will “count” without looking like school. That is a second setup. It will not hold tomorrow’s school picture. It will teach a different one.

Keep the spine. Shrink it. Or skip. Those are the two honest options.

If today’s school page was groups

Sometimes the school lesson was matching, odd one out, two sets, and the picture is still there. A short return can stay in that language.
