What the child practices

• Match the ones that go together — find two that belong, then say what is the same about them.
• Almost the same — look at two things and choose same, almost the same, or not the same.
• Find the one that is different — tap the one that is not the same.
• Sort into two groups — decide the rule: color, size, or shape.
• Left or Right — say which side it is on.

How a sitting works

Sit beside your child. Choose one idea. Six short rounds. A first miss is “Try once more.” A second miss shows a quiet gold hint on the answer. Stop whenever you like with “That’s enough for today.” There is no score and no timer.

The three words

Same. Almost the same. Not the same.

Two things can be the same kind without being twins. A large gold circle and a small gold circle are almost the same. A circle and a triangle are not the same.

After you close the screen

• When you sort laundry into lights and darks, ask “what rule did we use?”
• Name left and right when putting on shoes.
• Hold two spoons: are they the same, or only almost the same?
