No. Do not add a worksheet pile beside Dimensions Math KA. Sit with today’s page and the objects they can touch. Extra sheets do not give them more kindergarten. They turn the morning into a race and open a second program.

Extra sheets are a second program

You already have a book. Dimensions Math KA has a page for today. That page is the work. A printable pack beside it looks like insurance. It looks like you made sure. It is another program on the same table.

Those sheets will not use KA’s pictures. They will ask for tracing, mixed review, a different setup. You will spend the sitting translating between two methods. They will learn that the book was the warm-up, and the pile was the real work.

That is how today’s page becomes a race. You hurry the book so there is time for the extras. The objects stay in the bowl. The numerals get filled because the packet is still open.

Stay with the page you opened

Open KA. Do that page. Put out the objects the lesson already uses. Buttons, spoons, blocks — whatever matches the picture. Let them touch the group the page is asking about. Then write or match only what the book asked.

You do not need more paper because this page looked thin. Kindergarten pages are supposed to look small. Adding sheets because you finished early is how two programs share one morning.

If they finish and it still feels light, sit with the same objects once more. Ask them to show the group again. Do not reach for a new packet to fill the leftover minutes.

The pile turns the page into a race

A race is not only speed. It is covering more paper than the book asked for. It is correcting the numeral before they have held the group. It is the quiet feeling that the morning did not count unless something extra got done.

KA did not fail you because the sitting was short. The book already chose the size of today. Your job is to stay inside that size.

If a page is hard, you do not add easier worksheets from somewhere else. Stay in the same book. Turn back until the picture is one they can begin. If a page is easy, you do not add harder worksheets. You stop while it is still clear.

Objects, and Match & Sort only if groups

The extra work, when you want some, is not another sheet. It is the same objects on the table. They can touch what the picture showed. That is still the book. That is not a second program.

Some KA pages are groups: matching, odd one out, two sets. On those days only, Match & Sort can sit beside the book. Same kind of seeing. No score. No timer. Leave it closed if the page is not groups.

Do not print a matching pack to go with it. Paper from somewhere else is still a second stack.

Then stop. Close the book. Leave the extras in the drawer.
